As part of their Integrated program, year 8 students visited Hawkstowe Park last week where they learnt had hands on experience drawing topographical maps. They also visited the State Emergency Service in Broadmeadows, where students learnt how to use equipment and all about the important role the SES play in natural disasters. I'm sure that the excursion helped to consolidate what they have been studying in Integrated and relate their students to the world around them.
One student commented that “it showed us that there are a lot of people in need around the world and these people volunteer their time to help.”
The excursion was a great opportunity to put their learning into action in the local community and was a very rewarding experience for students.
Check out the pictures of 8 A and C during their visit to the SES.
